Solarize Salem is a new co-op solar installation purchasing program led by Salem Creative Network, a nonprofit corporation organized to provide creative solutions for social innovation.

Solarize Salem will solicit participation from homeowners and coordinate the outreach and education component of the project. Solarize Salem intends to help homeowners:
• Leverage federal and state energy incentives and tax credits for conservation, efficiency, and renewable energy measures
• Save money through the bulk purchase of solar equipment
• Learn from neighborhood energy education forums
• Simplify the contractor selection process
• Ensure Quality Assurance through third party verification
• Reduce energy costs and green house gas emissions

Additionally, Solarize Salem intends to help promote the Salem green jobs industry by:
• Using federal and state incentives and tax credits to create consumer demand
• Spur contractor hiring and training to meet market demand
• Scaling Solarize Salem projects to match the capacity of Salem area contractors
• Schedule overlapping Solarize Salem projects that enable participation of multiple installation teams
